About My Work

Handcrafting ceramics is a slow process. I begin with a lump of clay and an idea, but it’s the clay that sets the pace and leads the dance! Every step is a matter of timing; knowing when is as important as knowing how. This tempo suits me well as I take pleasure in handling  clay and love the time spent with each piece. The entire process unfolds over many days and weeks. Lots can go wrong, and often does, but it’s immensely satisfying to watch a body of work come together bit by bit and piece by piece. To see it emerge from the kiln in its final transformation is magical!  To have it then used and enjoyed by others is icing on the cake.
